Embossed Door Christmas Cards

Simply Cards and Papercraft magazine had a door embossing folder as well as a set of coordinating stamps as their gift with Issue 154. 

Even though I made hundreds of Christmas cards for nursing homes just a couple of months ago, I don't have a single one to use myself this holiday season!  I decided this set would make some very nice cards to send.

Six Petal Flower Card

The white base was embossed with a Darice folder.

Make The Cut was used to size and cut the six petal flowers.

I added a dot of Pearl Pen for the centers and pop dotted them for dimension.

The sentiment was computer printed and also pop dotted onto the card front.

Thinking of You Card

I embossed the card base and rounded the outer corners.

The sentiment was printed on my computer with Nokia Brush HMK font and punched using Stampin' Up's Decorative Label punch.  The shadow for the punched shape was cut using MTC.

One half of a paper doily was tucked under the printed paper section.

"Hanging Heart" Valentine

Using Hallmark Card Studio, I printed the sentiment onto white cardstock in each of four sections.  This gave me four card fronts.  Then I placed the cardstock onto the cutting mat for my Cameo and cut the heart opening.

Once the hearts were cut out, I used a guillotine cutter and cut it into four pieces 5 1/2" x 4 1/4" to make four fronts and trimmed 1/4" off two edges.  That allows the red card base to show.

A Divine Swirls folder was used to emboss each of the four fronts.  Then I added a small piece of baker's twine and a pre-made bow.

A smaller heart was cut then pop dotted for dimension.  I coated the small heart with Crystal Stickles.

This idea came from a Stampin' Up demonstrator's blog.

Embossed Fall Card

 The base was embossed with a Cuttlebug folder and inked with Close to Cocoa ink.

I layered two colors of ribbon using my ATG gun.

The leaf is silk.  I printed the sentiment and punched it out with a scalloped circle punch, then added some dots with markers. The circle is pop dotted for dimension.

The sentiment was moved on this one just to see how it looked.  I believe I prefer the sentiment on the lower right side.

Hello Card

This would have been called a 30 Minute Card if it hadn't taken me so long to find the frame embossing folder.  Recently I made card stock folders for all my embossing folders and did some rearranging of the folders and dies.  I forgot where the smaller embossing folders were!

I used a Sizzex embossing folder for the frame, Swiss dots folder for the background  and Fiskars threading water punch for the scalloped pieces.  This card was inspired by one seen online.

Three Roses Die Cut Card

It seems like forever since any new cards have been posted on here.  It's been a rough July for me; not feeling well at all, and just now feeling up to doing some crafting again.

The rose die used on this came with a card making magazine from the UK. 

The background on the card appears to be embossed in the photo but it's actually white on white die cuts of the rose itself. Two of the roses are glued onto the center rectangle and the top one was pop dotted for dimension.

It took quite a while to get the die cuts done and assembled.  There are a total of 14 die cuts on the card front.  Now I remember why I bought an electronic cutter! 

30 Minute Cards

 The embossing was done with a Darice folder named Cross With Script.  I found it at JoAnn's.   It's embossed on mica paper and mounted on some cardstock.

Super simple card.  Just another piece of mica paper that's embossed then embellished with a few paper flowers with pearl centers.

I really like the embossing folder.  It will be easy to cut the embossed design into sections and use them as card sentiments. 

Split Gothic Folder Card -- 30 Minute Card

The background was embossed with a Gothic folder and then cut down and split into three sections to allow the colored cardstock to show through.  Splitting the embossed area gives it a totally different look and one more good way to utilize an embossing folder.

I used Hallmark Card Studio, Nokia Brush HMK and Bernhard Modern fonts to print the sentiment.

This is the twelfth, and final, Father's Day card layout I made for the local nursing homes.  There are two of each style, one for each of the homes in town.

Design-A-Flower Card

This card was done using an embossing folder and stamp set that came with Papercraft magazine.

I embossed the card front then stamped and cut out the large flower and leaves by hand.  They are pop dotted onto the matching embossed area.

The smaller embossed flowers were tinted with Memento Ladybug Red ink and a dauber. 

I added the sentiment and two small coordinating flower stamps in the upper corner and was done!

Three Feathers Birthday Card

This is a card seen in issue 132 of Simply Cards and Papercraft, a publication from the U.K..  Each issue of the magazine comes with a gift attached.  The gift for this issue was a feather shaped die.  There is a set of coordinating stamps and sentiments to go with the die but I have been unable to find a source to purchase it.

The sentiment was printed using Hallmark Card Studio and the background was embossed with a script folder.

The colors are gold, bright pink, teal and navy blue.  The navy photographed as black.

"Water" You Up To Card

Inspired by a card seen in Just Cards magazine.

The background was embossed with a Cuttlebug folder.  I added a border with a Fiskars punch.  The fish is a clip art image.  I used the print and cut feature on my Cameo.  The sentiment was printed with my computer.

Dandelion Card

The embossing folder is from Darice.  I used a Stampin' Up border punch on the top and bottom edges.  The embossed image was colored with Promarkers.

Rose Wreath Card

I'm particularly pleased with the way this turned out.  I used Make The Cut software to cut a 2.2218 x 2.0312 inch oval from white card stock and then embossed it with a Stampin' Up folder.  A pink shadow layer was added.

The rose wreath stamp is from an old set of Stampin' Up stamps.  It was colored with Pale Pink and Meadow Green Promarkers.

The small pink flowers were done with a Bitty Punch, the greenery is a Martha Stewart  branch punch; the flower centers are Pearl Pen dots.

The card base was embossed with a Cuttlebug folder.  The layered ovals are pop dotted for dimension.  The bow is done with Baby Pink ribbon.

Fall Pumpkins Card

The pumpkins were made using an oval punch.  I inked the edges and hand cut a piece of brown for the stems.

The green swirl was cut with a die and Cuttlebug.  The green striped shape is from Elegant Edges cartridge cut on my Cameo.


I traced and cut the tiny maple leaves.

This card was inspired by one seen online.

Red Swirl Card

I embossed a piece of white cardstock then used a Martha Stewart border punch on the edge.  The swirl was cut on my Cameo.  The sentiment was punched with a Word Window punch.

Maxium Power Stamps Card

Two new sets of stamps by Close to My Heart arrived today.   I needed something to make masculine cards with and the vehicles, tire tracks and sentiments in the Maximum Power set work well.

The image was stamped with Memento ink and colored with Promarkers. The background was embossed with a Cuttlebug folder.

Duct Tape Butterfly Card

The butterfly is made from metallic duct tape using a Beautiful Wings embosslit from Stampin' Up. 

The background was embossed with a Darice folder.

The embossed background was highlighted with a silver metallic Promarker.

This is "real" duct tape.  I asked the air conditioner installer where he got it and he gave me this partial roll.  It's only 2" wide but there is quite a bit left.  I can emboss a lot of images with what's left.

The embosslit has five butterflies on it.  The largest is on the front of the card and I used the tiny ones on the inside.

Secret Garden Stamps Card

Several different Cuttlebug embossing folders were used for the background pieces.  The flowers were colored with Promarkers.  The leaves are a digital image of the Stampin' Up sizzlet, Little Leaves, cut on my Cameo.

I realized after the photo was taken, that I'd failed to color the center on the large flower!

Butterflies On A Vine

Inspired by a card seen online

The larger leaves were cut with my Cameo.  I layered some shapes punched with a Martha Stewart punch over those.  The butterflies were done with a Stampin' Up embosslit and the background was embossed with a Cuttlebug folder.
