Thinking of You Card

I embossed the card base and rounded the outer corners.

The sentiment was printed on my computer with Nokia Brush HMK font and punched using Stampin' Up's Decorative Label punch.  The shadow for the punched shape was cut using MTC.

One half of a paper doily was tucked under the printed paper section.

Butterfly Card

The butterfly is Silhouette file 19799, pop dotted for dimension and embellished with a tiny flower and pearl.'  I used a 5 1/2" paper doily with a 3" circle in the center cut from patterned paper.  The doily was cut in half and then tinted with Always Artichoke ink.

The sentiment is from a set of stamps that came with a card making magazine from the UK. 

I added some pen stitching with a Close to Cocoa marker.

Candy Hearts and Cupcake Card

Make The Cut has been my preferred software program ever since I began using it with my Expression.  I love how easy it is to use and got comfortable with its capabilities.  Even after I purchased a Cameo, I continued to use Make The Cut rather than learning how to use Silhouette software.

Since doing print and cut has become so popular, I've decided it's time for me to get serious and learn as much as I can about the Silhouette program.  Thanks to a Facebook friend, Kat Schrieber,  the past couple of days have been really fun since she spent some time teaching me shortcuts and tricks.

It still takes me quite a while to do things I want, but it's getting easier.  This card uses what Kat taught me yesterday.

I traced the cupcake image, did the print and cut and then I traced it again and was able to separate the cupcake liner from the top and did another print and cut of that image.  That gave me the cake portion to pop dot onto the full image and provide more dimension to the card.

The candy hearts are also clip art images that were done with print and cut.

I embossed the white mat underneath the cupcake with a heart folder and added a pink and brown mat.

Everything is sitting on top of a paper doily.

The dimension of the card shows up better in this photo. 

I know I have barely scratched the surface of what the Silhouette software can do.  For now, I'll continue working with clip art, doing print and cut, and learning how to break apart and color clip art images.  Once I have that process down, I'll move on to something else---like maybe point editing.  Right now, that just sounds too complicated!

30 Minute Doily and Butterfly Card

White on white cards look very elegant to me.  This one was inspired by one seen online.


The butterfly is from the CTMH Artiste cartridge, traced and cut with Make the Cut software.  I added a shadow and pop dotted it as well as the filigree portion of the butterfly for added dimension.

The sentiment is stamped in gold metallic ink, but it appears silver in the photo.

Flower Shop Card With Doily

Splitcoast Stampers inspired this card.  I used SU Flower Shop stamp and punch.

Definitely NOT a 30 Minute Card

At 4:00 this afternoon I began working on the elements for this card.  Taking out about an hour for the time I spent fixing dinner, it took me 4.5 hours to complete four of these!

I'm a slow learner!  I had the butterfly imported and resized in Make The Cut twice, without remembering to save the file, when the size of the file caused my Windows to shut down as it was being transferred the Cameo to cut!  After the second crash, I decided to step away and cook dinner.

I've had my Windows shut down before while using Make The Cut.  It happened when I tried to send an entire 12 x 12 mat full of intricate designs to the Cameo to cut.  Today I had too many of the filigree butterflies.  You'd think after the first time, I'd have saved the file! 

The butterfly is from the CTMH Art Philosophy cartridge.  I used an 1.5 inch scalloped square and 1 inch square punch to do the photo corners.  The butterfly sits on a paper doily.  (I intended to cut my own doily, but after the two shut downs, I just wanted to get these finished!)

Folded Doily Card

While looking through a Stampin' Up brochure today I saw a card with a paper doily sewn onto it.  This is my version of that card.  I used a Martha Stewart punch for the butterflies, printed the sentiment on my computer, added some butterflies on the background with Versamark ink, some Liquid Pearl drops and white stitching.

These went together quickly.  I managed to lay the design out and complete eight of them while my 17 month old grandson was down for a nap.  When he's awake, there's no way I can make cards! LOL!

Vintage Butterfly Card

The butterflies are clip art images that I printed in different sizes and cut out by hand.  They're pop dotted onto the printed Graphic 45 paper that's been stained with Tim Holtz Distress Ink.

 I like the way the bright blue stands out from the vintage style background colors.

I used a brown Promarker to color the paper doily then placed half of it underneath the printed paper.  The darker brown paper is from Paper Studio..

Paper Doily Card

Inspired by a card seen on Splitcoast Stampers.  A good way to use up the paper doilies left over from another project.
