Bricks Card

While searching for some card inspiration online I saw some cards done by inking embossing folders for the background.   I figured that doing the inking would be pretty messy so instead I just used a Stampin' Up marker and colored in the openings in the embossed background.  It was simple to do and didn't take long at all.

The flower pot was stamped using black Memento ink before the background was embossed with a Tim Holtz folder. .  After embossing, I colored it with Promarkers.

Washi Tape Cards

I discovered a couple of rolls of Tim Holtz washi tape that I'd forgotten about having in my supplies.  So I tried to come up with some idea on how to use it.

The butterflies were made out of mica paper with a three step butterfly punch.

The words were computer printed.  The silhouette was done with a Tim Holtz die.

Vintage Truck Father's Day Card

I cut the auto tags out of a printed sheet found in the  clearance section of the LSS.

The vintage truck is a Tim Holtz stamped image.

The background is embossed with a diamond plate folder.

30 Minute Card - Monarch Butterfly

Sometimes the most simple card turns out to be one I really like. 

I used some scraps of paper with script print and just picked up the olive color with the background paper and ribbon.

The butterfly is by Tim Holtz.

Large Butterfly Card

Today I'm playing with all the new supplies that arrived last week.

The birch tree embossing folder is from Stampin' Up; the butterfly is a Tim Holtz stamp that I colored with Promarkers; the greenery was die cut.

New Supplies Arrived Today

This is a shout out for Scrapbook Outlet .  These are the goodies I ordered from them that arrived today.

They had the lowest prices I've found on dies and stamps.  The large butterfly set by Tim Holtz was less than $5.   I had never seen the bow and winter scene dies before.  The bow die will come in really handy for card making.  I may have to do a little shading on it with a Promarker to add some dimension but I won't have to worry about it getting mashed in the envelope.

"Tea Time" Die Card

The cups were cut with a Tim Holtz die called "Tea Time".  It's one purchased a few weeks ago and I just now got around to trying it out. 

Chestnut Roan ink was used to shade the edges.

Umbrella Card

The umbrella is a clip art image, traced and printed using Silhouette software.  It's printed on Tim Holtz paper then shaded using Promarkers.  It was pop dotted on the card front for dimension.

The sentiment was printed using Hallmark Card Studio software.  The background on the card base is a mixture of Tim Holtz and other brands of stamps using Always Artichoke ink.

Butterfly Duo Die Card

A quick card using some Tim Holtz paper scraps and Distress ink to try out the Butterfly Duo die.

This is an A2 sized card.

Coffee Cup Card

It's been a long time since I've purchased any supplies for making cards so I treated myself to some Tim Holtz dies and embossing folders. 

First I fell in love with the butterflies, then the tea cups and coffee cups.  It was too hard to decide which ones to buy so I just got them all!

The edges are inked with Chestnut Roan.  The band is crimped using a Fiskars crimper. 

I printed the sentiment on my computer and added some random coffee bean stamped images.

The dies are Tea Time, Fresh Brewed and Butterfly Duo.

Road Trip Card

The truck is a Tim Holtz stamp; the sign is a clip art image I traced and cut with Silhouette software; the words were cut using Make The Cut and Raceway font.

This sheet of license tag paper has been hanging around a long time.  I really liked it but had no good idea on how to use it until today.

Eiffel Tower Card -- 30 Minute Card

I used a Tim Holtz sentiment and combined it with two other stamp sets, using Close to Cocoa ink.

Live Happy Card

For this card I used a Tim Holtz stamp, tore the edges around the image and a stamp from Stampin' Up's You're Lovely set.

The ink is Stampin' Up's Crushed Curry.

The nested butterflies were done with Elegant Butterfly  and Martha Stewart punches.

Crazy Birds Card

The images are Tim Holtz Crazy Birds and colored using Promarkers.

 The sentiment was printed on my computer.

Giving Comfort Cards

Giving Comfort is a charitable organization that provides comfort kits, cards and support for cancer patients.  Since OWH is shutting down after next month, I decided to switch gears and make cards for Giving Comfort.

I'm finding it extremely difficult to find sentiments suitable for cancer patients.   Google search, Pinterest and going back through the photos of cards I've made in the past didn't yield many.  One of the best is a stamp from Papertrey Ink.

A Moment In Time

Two of my favorite paper companies are Graphic 45 and Tim Holtz.  Whenever I find a new stack I'm tempted to add it to my supplies.

The vintage photographs and tissue paper background are from Tim Holtz.  I cut the flower using Make The Cut and a digital punch image from Stampin' Up.

Spring Card - Cherries - Father's Day

This card uses the pieces left over from the spring cards I posted earlier.  There were enough pieces to do four; it was such a hassle putting glue onto the small strips that I only finished one.

The cherries are clip art, colored with Promarkers.
I embossed the background with my favorite Cuttlebug folder, swiss dots.

Even though it's March, I have to work ahead of the calendar to get cards sent to Operation Write Home in time for them to be delivered overseas.

I made a dozen of these cards using various Tim Holtz papers; the car is a Tim Holtz stamp.  The sentiment was printed on my computer and punched with Stampin' Up's decorative label punch.  I added the shadow using their SVG file that matches the punch.  Using Make The Cut software, it's a snap to create a shadow image that's just the perfect size.

The inside sentiment was printed using Hallmark Card Making software.  I used Banjoman Open Bold font for both the inside and outside wording.

Travel Themed Card Bases

I absolutely love a bargain!  A while ago at Hobby Lobby, Okieladybug and I found several boxes of Paper Studio premade cards on the clearance rack.  The price of the cards and envelopes was so low that I bought all they had thinking I could just add some embellishments and have a box full of cards for Operation Write Home.

One box had primary colored geometric shapes, one had animal prints and one had travel themed images.  The geometric ones were super easy to embellish.  I still have the animal prints and the travel themed ones to do. 

The travel themed ones have stumped me.  So, I challenged myself to come up with something and get these used and on the way to OWH.

I used a Tim Holtz die to cut the scalloped piece.  The photo is vintage clip art found online.  I printed the sentiment on my computer and decided if I punched it with a circle punch it would sort of look as if the man in the photo was holding a balloon.

The suitcase is a clip art image that I printed and cut out by hand.  I printed the sentiment, stamped some post marks over the words and mounted the tag on dark brown cardstock.  The images are pop dotted for dimension.

So, two down and seven more different travel themed cards to design!  Each box had multiples of each design so at least when I come up with an idea, I can do duplicates to make it go faster.

Black Butterfly Card

Getting back into the swing of card making again.  Just a quick stamped image, colored with Promarkers and embellished with a bow.  The mat underneath is white cardstock covered with some Tim Holtz newsprint tissue paper.  Renee Wayland and I fell in love with it at Scraptopia and shared the roll.
