Giving Comfort Cards

Giving Comfort is a charitable organization that provides comfort kits, cards and support for cancer patients.  Since OWH is shutting down after next month, I decided to switch gears and make cards for Giving Comfort.

I'm finding it extremely difficult to find sentiments suitable for cancer patients.   Google search, Pinterest and going back through the photos of cards I've made in the past didn't yield many.  One of the best is a stamp from Papertrey Ink.

30 Minute Card -- Get Well Card

Just a quick layered card using a couple of Cuttlebug folders a punch and stamp.

Pocket Get Well Card

The original  card was done by Carolyn Wolff and seen on Pinterest.

The pocket is from Freshly Picked cartridge, faux stitched with a white Signo pen.  I used a scalloped border punch for the white trim and a Martha Stewart punch for the leaves.  I printed the sentiment, punched it out and added some white doodledots to the red oval.

After applying the pocket to the first one I made, I learned that you need to tuck the tissue behind the pocket before you attach it to the card front!  Most good things I know I've learned the hard way!

Get Well Card

Jennifer McGuire's blog was the inspiration for this card.  I used Indie Art for the bandaid; it was resized in Design Studio; a Martha Stewart punch for the blue border; Hallmark software to print the card front and ta-da!  I got to use some of the blue butterflies left over from my negative space card that I posted earlier this week!  

The card fron has a 1" wide piece cut off with the bandaid cut outs hanging over the cut edge.  I used the scrap piece for a little trim on the inside of the card. Then I rounded the corners with a Corner Chomper.
