Embossed and Inked Butterfly Card

The butterflies were embossed onto vellum.  I trimmed the embossed area following the upper edge of the design then colored the butterflies on the back side using a Promarker.
This gives the impression that the butterflies have been cut out to let the card base color show through.

The sentiment was printed on my computer then punched with a Word Window punch and layered onto a Modern Label punched out shape.

The white butterfly was embossed with a Brocade folder and pop dotted for dimension. It's a Martha Stewart punch.

Circles With Butterflies Card

Punched butterflies and circles make up the focal point on this card.  The smaller butterfly has Liquid Pearl drops.

Live Happy Card

For this card I used a Tim Holtz stamp, tore the edges around the image and a stamp from Stampin' Up's You're Lovely set.

The ink is Stampin' Up's Crushed Curry.

The nested butterflies were done with Elegant Butterfly  and Martha Stewart punches.

Folded Doily Card

While looking through a Stampin' Up brochure today I saw a card with a paper doily sewn onto it.  This is my version of that card.  I used a Martha Stewart punch for the butterflies, printed the sentiment on my computer, added some butterflies on the background with Versamark ink, some Liquid Pearl drops and white stitching.

These went together quickly.  I managed to lay the design out and complete eight of them while my 17 month old grandson was down for a nap.  When he's awake, there's no way I can make cards! LOL!

Simple Butterfly Card

The butterflies were done with a Martha Stewart punch and the sentiment was cut with Cursive 101.
The butterfly mica paper is from SEI, the solid is Coordinations and the stripe is from Momenta.

Inspiration for the card is from one seen in Cards magazine.

More Butterfly Mother's Day Cards

I'm stuck on butterflies this week!  Here are a couple more Mother's Day cards for Operation Write Home.  The first one is based on a challenge sketch seen on their website.  I didn't like the way it turned out so I changed the layout.

The sketch indicated to use three strips of paper, 1/2" wide beside the center rectangle.  I wound up with the sentiment being on a piece that wasn't tall enough for the three bands to look appropriate beside it.  If the sentiment had been on a long narrow rectangle, it would have been okay.

I had multiple card bases prepared so I cut out some shapes using Elegant Edges and printed my sentiment on those.  The shadow was made using Design Studio.

I used Martha Stewart and Stampin' Up punches for the butterflies and added some accents with inks and Pearl Pens.

Inside sentiment was printed using card making software.

Simple Card with Twenty Pieces!

Thanks, Claudia Harvey, for sharing this pretty card layout!  I saw it on Pinterest; it seems like that's where I'm getting all my card inspiration these days.

A Martha Stewart punch was used for the butterflies; the word "Imagine" was cut from some Slice specialty paper with adhesive on the back and I added some doodling with a Signo pen.

The card front has tiny lines embossed horizontally across the front.  They don't show up in the photo.

Shirley and I found some packages of the Slice self-adhesive paper at Tuesday Morning.  After making some cards yesterday and wrestling with applying glue onto cut out letters, I dragged mine back out and used it for today's project.  It was simpler to peel the paper off the back of each letter than to apply glue and try to get a letter positioned on the card front.

Thanks again, Shirley, aka Okieladybug, for creating the watermark for me!

Butterfly Mother's Day Card

Splitcoast Stampers provided the inspiration for this one.  I used Lyrical Letters for the word and several Martha Stewart and Fiskars punches for the rest of the embellishments. I added some white Enamel Accent dots.  The papers are Heidi Grace and Coordinations.

Butterfly Punch Card

Shirley found a great bargain on scrapbook supplies recently and she let me have the only one of these Martha Stewart butterfly punches that she found!  We agreed that I use a lot more butterflies than she does on making cards.

The daisy border MS punch was another of the bargains she scored that day.

I computer printed the sentiment and then partially punched the edge with the border punch.  The inside has a piece of white paper to write a message.

Stitching across the butterflies added some much needed dimension to this one!  You can barely see in the photos that I used some VersaMark ink and a butterfly stamp to add some shadow images on the background.

Using My New Supplies

Saturday afternoon Shirley, aka Okieladybug, came to my house to bring me some goodies she found on sale at a discount store in Ada.  Included in the things she picked up for me were a Martha Stewart daisy border punch and butterfly punch, a set of stamps that has nine butterflies, and several sets of Memento Dew Drop inks.  This card has all those things used on it.  The paper is from Stampin' Up.

I think I'm going to get a lot of use out of these supplies!  Butterflies are one of my favorite things to incorporate onto a card front.

Butterfly Valentine Card

Yesterday my friend, Shirley called to tell me she'd found some good deals on scrapbook supplies in a discount store.  She bought Memento ink pads, Memento dew drop ink pads, stamp sets, punches and paper stacks at 40% off, and she picked up a ton of things for me too!

I used items she picked up to do this card.

The ink I used on this card is Memento Bamboo Leaves, the leaf stamp is a Cloud 9,  the small butterflies are a Martha Stewart punch, the larger butterfly is from an EK Success three step punch.

I made several versions of this card, all with slight differences, trying to decide how to lay it out.

I like them all but the last one is my personal pick.
