Making Christmas Cards -- Day 6

It's taken me all afternoon to get just eight of these assembled.  You'd think as many years as I've spent making cards and using software I'd remember to save a file once it's completed!  I accidentally turned the power off on my Cameo, caused an error in Make The Cut and had to restart the program.  "Poof!" the file was gone!

This card was designed by Pam McKay.  I changed it slightly by adding the white pen work.

The gingerbread men are from the Cricut cartridge Gingerbread and cut at 3/4" tall,   The details were added with markers.  I pop dotted them for dimension.

The oven mitts are from the Cricut cartridge From My Kitchen.

What's Cookin' ?

The pots are on the From My Kitchen Cricut cartridge.  I traced them and cut them with Make The Cut software.  The faces are Peachy Keen stamps.

Mission Accomplished!

Lately, I've sort of slacked off in my card making for Operation Write Home.  Today I set a goal for myself to complete 24 cards and I met my goal.  In between chores today I designed and assembled twelve each of two different designs.

It takes me too long to select papers to use!

The telephone is off the From My Kitchen cartridge.

This one is based on a card by Debbie Olson.

Milk and Cookies Card

The cow was cut using From My Kitchen.  It's cut at 2" and using Design Studio I flipped the image so the cow would be facing left.  *** I knew if I didn't flip the cow, that Okieladybug would make a smart remark about the cookies being behind the cow! ***  The black spots, hooves and nose were colored with Promarkers.

The tiny cookies were cut by hand from a sheet out of a Paper Studio stack named Sugar and Spice and pop dotted onto the grass.

Hallmark card making software was used to print the sentiment on the background.  I used a Divine Swirls embossing folder to give the grass some dimension and inked the edges.

*****After this was posted, I entered it into a challenge on a site called Bitten by the Bug 2.  Be sure to check out the blog!  Just scrolling through a couple of pages I've seen so many wonderful card ideas using your Cricut machine! *******

Hello Card

The phone image is on the From My Kitchen cartridge.  It was cut at 3" and I added some color with a Stampin' Up marker..  I computer generated the sentiment and put score lines on it for some dimension.

What's Cookin' Card

The pot is on page 36 in the From My Kitchen handbook.  I used a Stampin' Up border punch for the scallop across the top and computer printed the sentiment.  The face is a Peachy Keen stamp.

Cutting the tiny, tiny pieces for this shape is such a hassle that I just put the accents on the pot with a white Signo pen.

Shawna's Cheese Dip

About 11 o'clock at the swarm, I smelled something wonderful in the kitchen and had to go check it out.  Shawna Maxwell had brought a crock pot of cheese dip to go with the submarine sandwiches for our lunch.  I've had the Velveeta Cheese and Rotel dip several times and it's okay.  Usually a little hotter than what I care for though. Shawna's recipe is creamier and has a milder pepper flavor to it since she uses Pace Picante sauce instead of the Rotel tomatoes with green chilies.

She was kind enough to share her recipe with all of us at the swarm.  I made it for Fred the very next day and he agrees that it's just pretty darned good!  Knowing that I'd want to keep the recipe and use it again, I made a layout for my Cricut Cookin' recipe album.

The pot was cut with From My Kitchen; I used clip art for the images and just printed the heading on my computer.

Thanks again for sharing this with me Shawna!

From My Kitchen cards

A couple of weeks ago I found out about a LSS in Harrah and drove over to check it out.  It's a cute little shop with paper that I'd never seen anywhere else.  The background paper on these cards is from a stack by Melisssa Frances called Kitschy Kitchen.

I've been a fan of the retro-kitchen look since before it was cool!  Of course, I lived during that period of time myself.  LOL!

My mother's kitchen had a set of plaster of paris fruit plaques on the wall beside the back door that had faces on them just like the ones on the Peachy Keen stamps I used on these.  All her tea towels were embroidered and yes, she had a formica and chrome dinette set in there!

The toaster and mixer were cut using the From My Kitchen cartridge.  I computer printed the sentiment and used a border punch too.

The first layout I did was the one with both shapes on it.  It just looked too crowded so I changed tactics and made the one with the single toaster shape and I think I prefer it.

From My Kitchen

I used From My Kitchen to cut the mit, Cuttlebugged it and did a shadow with brown paper.  The cuff was just cut by hand.  Added a Prima flower and a white button, computer generated the sentiment.
