Cowboy Boot Valentine

Shirley, aka Okieladybug, designed this card and so I stole her idea to make the perfect Valentine for my husband!

The boots are an image that Shirley stamped an entire page of at stamp club a couple of months ago.  Then she colored the images and scanned the page.  Now whenever she (or I) need the boots for a quick card, all we have to do is just print them and cut them out.  Talk about a time saver!

Old West cartridge was used to cut the barbed wire frame.  Shirley gave me a great tip for inking the barbed wire.  Cut the image out first, leave the paper on your mat and hit the "load paper" button again.  The blade will align with the original starting point.  Remove your blade and insert a Cricut marker and then cut the images again.  Perfect outline and detail lines!

The reason I knew this was the perfect Valentine for my husband was the sentiment Shirley used inside hers.

"Wouldn't it be wonderful if we could be like a pair of old boots...the worse we look, the better we feel!"

It's perfect because DH and I are always talking about how old we're getting! LOL!

The boot is from Old West, circles from George and text from Sentimentals.

Biscuits and Gravy Card

In this part of the US, if you can tell somebody that you love them like biscuits and gravy, that's a good thing! LOL!  This sign was posted on Pinterest the other day and I knew it would make a great sentiment for a card using the Old West Cartridge.

Graphically Speaking was used to cut the scalloped oval background.  Design Studio was used to size the words to fit onto the oval.

The sentiment was printed using card making software and I added a couple of tiny hearts.  This card could be used as a Valentine, birthday or just a "love you" card.

Using Inka-Gold Paints Again

The colors aren't very true in the photo.  The flowers are on a pale peach cardstock.  I used Versamark ink to stamp the flowers on the background piece.  A Martha Stewart punch for the leaves.  The flowers and leaves have Inka-Gold paints on the edges and I used a Pearl pen for the flower centers.

The jeans pocket was cut using Old West cartridge.  It's actually a card shape but I cut it in half to use just one.  Added some Chestnut Roan inking and a little doodling for the stitching.

Now if I just had a punch for the flowers so they didn't have to be cut out one at a time, I'd be in business! LOL!

Old West Card

Linda over at Scrapcat Cards blog posted a card almost identical to this one.  I like it!  So, I told her I was definitely going to scraplift it! 

Old West cartridge was used for the wording as well as the horse.  I tend not to cut the tiny layer shapes, like the hooves and mane for the horse, if I can color them with my Promarkers.  Scrapbookers need to keep in mind, I'm working with an area that's 5.5 x 4.25" instead of a 12 x 12" sheet of paper.  Cutting a lot of the Cricut images small enough to fit means that the layering pieces are extremely tiny and hard to manage.

I duplicated her card layout because it's going to be a good one to use for kids or men.  It's going into my cards for soldiers box.

Masculine Card

Here I go again, trying to come up with some sort of masculine themed card.  This one could be used for an adult or a child, I believe.  I'm leaving them blank inside so the sender can write whatever they want.

It would work for Father's Day, birthday, or congratulations since an upright horseshoe is for luck!

The rope frame and horseshoe are on Old West.  I resized them with Design Studio to fit onto the A2 sized card.

Today's Cards

The flower card is one that I saw on Facebook..  I used an 1.5 inch scallop punch for the flowers and a 1 inch punch for the flower centers.  The edges are inked and there are black dots on the center.  The leaves are made with a SU Blossom punch.  Each of the yellow scallops is cut with scissors toward the center to make flower petals.

This Father's Day card was made with Old West cartridge.  I added a little inking and some doodledots.

The background paper looks like tooled leather.  I printed the sentiment with my cardmaker software.

Old West Card

This background paper has been in my stash for quite a while and I finally came up with a good use for it.  Making cards suitable for children or young boys is a struggle for me.  It's much easier to make more feminine ones, in my opinion.

I used the Old West cartridge for all the cuts on this one.  The slits in the images were all shaded using a Promarker and instead of fighting with the little black pieces for the hay bale, I colored them too.  Added a few stickles onto the word "Howdy" and was done.
