Wood Burned Christmas Project - Wooden Spoons

 These were inspired by some wood burned items I saw online.

The wooden utensils came from Bed Bath and Beyond.

I free handed the designs onto the spoons with a pencil then followed the lines with a wood burning tool.

By using a pencil, any remaining lines are easily removed with an eraser.

Etched Casserole Dishes

These are Anchor Hocking casserole dishes that I etched with my blasting cabinet.  I made these for my nieces' Christmas gifts.

Almost Floating Frames

A holiday catalog inspired me to make these frames.  Since floating frames are rather expensive, I decided to just make my own.

All these frames came from either the Dollar Tree or Dollar General Store.  The largest is 8" x 10" and the smallest is 4" x 6".  I removed the cardboard backing and then put a line of hot glue around the edge of the glass on the back side to hold it in place.

The issue with removing the cardboard backing was that also removed the metal hanging loops.  When I selected the frames I made certain the edge of the frame was wide enough to add my own sawtooth hanger.

The letters were cut from Oracal 651 vinyl and mounted on the surface of the glass rather than reversing the image and placing it on the back side of the glass.  I did it this way so that none of the adhesive on the larger letters would be visible from the front.

Faux cupcake Jars

This project came from Club Chica Circle.  The "icing" on top is white caulk, the "cherry" is a large jingle bell.  I added some diamond dust glitter to make the icing sparkle and set the jar down inside a cupcake wrapper from the Cricut Artiste cartridge.  The openings in the wrapper were just perfect to thread some 1/8" ribbon through to add a bow.

These were done on 4 oz. Ball jelly jars, but any size jar would work.  I filled them with wrapped peppermint candies.

Charger Plate With Vinyl Images

My first try using Make The Cut to arc lettering.  It was pretty simple once I figured out the instructions from a video on Youtube. 

I made three of these for my sisters.  Each one is a little different.  I think I like working with vinyl!  There may be some home dec projects posted in the near future!

Nugget Tins for Christmas

The tins were bought as part of a group buy on Facebook.  By the time I used all the tins I ordered, I was sick of making these things!  But, they turned out cute and will be a good thing to use to put some cash in for gifts.

Santa's Pants Box

This was inspired by a box seen on Pinterest.  Since I'm always in a hurry when I decide to do a project, I knew it would take me too long to make a cut. file in Design Studio so I used an empty box for the base.

An empty saltine cracker box was my starting point.

I measured one half of the box and made a mark 5" from the bottom fold.  This is my cut line and I'll get two finished boxes from each saltine box.

I opened  the side seam on the box and flattened it out.  This makes it easier to cut the bib portion on the pants.

You can see where I drew the black lines as the outline for the bib cutout.

Then I used a ruler to make a straight cutting line across the width of the box and cut on the line.

To finish the box, I covered it with red paper, cut a 3/4" strip of black for the belt and punched out a white square for the buckle.  The only black brads I had were too small so I colored some large brass ones with a black Sharpie Marker and attached the straps to the front and back of the box.

Now I have a Santa Pants box that's 4 x 4 x 3.5"---a perfect size to hold a pint sized jar of homemade goodies.

Another Christmas Bag

Very Merry Tags was used for the "Ho Ho Ho".  I cut strips of red and white cardstock, embossed them and then cut the edges with shaped scissors. The top of the bag was trimmed off and folded down and secured with a yarn bow.  These bags will be used for food gifts this Christmas.

Decorated Gift Bags

Yikes!  It's only sixteen days until Christmas Eve!  That's when my family gathers and does our gift exchange and has dinner.  This year, I'm making several different types of food items as gifts for my nieces, nephews and their families so I had to settle myself down today and get the bags decorated!

These are white lunch bags; they're a good size to hold a pint jar of homemade goodies. 

I used the new Paper Trimmings cartridge and Elegant Edges, some border punches, a snowflake punch, scalloped oval punch, Pearl Pens, ribbon,  computer printed sentiments and clip art images that I colored with Promarkers.

Super Simple Food Container

It's getting close to Christmas and I've been making some food gifts and need containers.  This is a gallon sized can that I opened using one of the safe can openers that open the cans from the side.  I just measured it and covered it with some holiday paper.   DH put the hole in the lid for the ribbon. 

It's a great way to recycle any size can and save some money on containers.  My next project is to decorate about 24 lunch bags to hold some pint jars of goodies.  I'm hoping after the Christmas party this Saturday that I can convince Shirley, aka Okieladybug, to give me some inspiration on those!

Christmas Gift - Glass Etched Mugs

This was my project this evening.  I have two of the sweetest great-nephews so I made these mugs for them.  They're going into a goodie basket with some flavored hot chocolate mixes and some cash.  Both boys are old enough that they will appreciate having some extra spending money but I didn't want to just give them cash or another gift card this year.

I found the mugs at Walmart and used Armor Etch to put their initials on the side.  Not very complicated at all.

The light on my work table made the glare beside the letters.  I tried several different alphabets before realizing the Pooh Font would work best.  Dealing with the curvature on the side of the mug was a little problem with some of the other fonts I tried.

Santa-tizer Bottles

Pinterest is a great place to find craft inspiration and ideas.  This project was inspired by Beth Newlin.  It took me no time at all to make five of these.  They're going into my stash of Christmas items that I'm accumulating and will be tucked in with some homemade goodies as part of gift baskets.

I used my Expression and Design Studio to cut the buckle and a Stampin' Up border punch for the edging.
