Stamp Club Card for Tonight

Shirley, aka Okieladybug, and I go to a stamp club once a month.  Occasionally, I even get a card or two finished.  Most of the time, I get distracted, talking and laughing and just stamp off images to color later at home.

Tonight I have a plan!  This card looks like it's pretty simple.  I designed it, made the prototype and will take written instructions and the supplies to make duplicates with me tonight.  I'm way behind on the number of cards I do for Cards for Soldiers and Operation Write Home, so I need to get these done.

Supplies:
     Hallmark Card Maker Software
     Fabulous Finds cartridge
     Fiskars border punch

First, I printed the sentiment using the card maker software onto a sheet of paper.  Then I measured the size tag I'd need for the words to fit onto and cut those with the Fabulous Finds cartridge.

It would have taken too long to drag out my light box so I just taped the printed sheet of  paper onto the patio door and placed the tags over the printed sentiments using blue painters tape to hold them in place.  I made sure the edge that would be fed into the printer was smoothly attached to the paper.  Then I just fed the paper back through the printer and the words were just where I wanted them on the tags.

The scalloped piece was done with a 1" wide strip of white cardstock.  After it was punched, I trimmed a 1/4" off the width and then applied the narrow strip onto the green cardstock.  The edges are slightly inked.

Using a Promarker, I added some doodledots onto the tag and attached the tag with some 1/8" ribbon.

Whew!  Lots of steps for a card that looks so simple!  But, I like the way it turned out and it will go into my "make it again" folder for a later date.

It's an A2 size card but it opens from the bottom rather than from the side. 

Stamp Club Challenge Paper

The first Thursday of each month Okieladybug and I go to a stamp club.  We're offered the chance to buy sheets of paper and challenged to see what we can make out of it.

October's paper had swirls on it that looked like steam coming off a coffee cup so I knew as soon as I saw it that I wanted to use some coffee cup stamps I've had for some time.

This one uses the cut. file from one of the beautiful retirment cards I received.  It took me some time to re-size it in Design Studio to make it small enough to fit onto the card but it's a simple enough file that there weren't too many shapes that had to be resized.  I think it works perfectly!

I chose to stamp the sentiment on the inside of the cup and leave the inside of the card blank since this will go into my Cards for Soldiers box.

The geometric design paper is one of the challenge sheets.  It just did not inspire me and this was about all I could decide to do with it. 

This month's papers are two sided cardstock.  The back side of this one is the lime green that I used to mat the center onto. I still have a metallic stripe with red on the back that I'm trying to decide what to use it for.

Again, this is a CFS card so it's left blank inside.

The only challenge paper on these three cards is the brown!  I felt guilty not having made very many with our papers this month so this afternoon I got out my SU stamps and the paper with the trees on it.  I found it at HL during their last paper sale and immediately thought about using the little pickup with it.



Stamp Club Cards

On the first Thursday of each month I drive down to Ada and go to Stamp Club with Okieladybug.  Carol and Bill Neal sponsor the club and they provide all the materials for us to make cards.  It's always a fun evening, even though Okie and I don't usually get a lot done. 

Sometimes there's a demo if someone has a new idea or technique they want to share and recently the SU dealer that comes each month has been bringing papers and offering us a challenge. 

These cards are made with the challenge paper we got in September and some clip art images that Carol brought. 

Maxine is my hero!  Love that old gal because she tells it like it is!

The black cat is one of the clip art images that Carol brought.  I just added some strips of black mulberry paper to the bottom edge.

I suppose that great minds do think alike!  LOL!  I just got off the phone with Okie and she told me that she's posted her Maxine cards on her blog today too!
