"Bee" Happy Card

Once again the bee images are clip art that were done with print and cut on my Cameo.

The card was laid out and the elements were cut using  MTC. 

A Stampin' Up marker was used to add the antennae and the flight trail behind the bee..

The corners of the card were rounded with a Corner Chomper from We R Memory Keepers.

I spent the last two and a half hours making four of these cards!  It was inspired by one seen online that was made using a die for the honeycomb cut outs and a stamp set neither of which I own.

Finding a suitable bee image online to do a print and cut with was pretty simple.  Getting it edited, resized and cut took a few tries using Silhouette software.

The antennae and the flight lines were done with a Stampin' Up marker.  I printed the sentiment using Hallmark Card software.

Card Challenge

Shirley Thompson posted a card challenge for this weekend.  This is her file she created and posted a link on her blog, Okieladybug's Scrap 'N More

I really liked the honeycomb and bees and decided to see what I could design using her basic idea.  Here are two cards using puns.

If you're not familiar with the Minions from Pixar movies, one of the characters wears a hat with flashing red lights and runs around yelling "Bee-do, Bee-do!".

One of the sentiments I wanted to use was "Don't worry, be happy".  So I used a doughnut and a bee!

After making Halloween cards for the past week, I switched directions and made a few of this layout.

The background was embossed; the bee is clip art that I colored with Promarkers; the tiny hearts were done with a Martha Stewart punch; the flower centers were done with Stickles.

Antiqued Kraft Card With Bee

 I used a chicken wire embossing folder on the card base and inked it with some distress ink.  The paper doily was also inked.  The bee image is one I found online.

The leaves were cut with a die.

On this version, I cut a honeycomb shape with my Cameo and layered it over the chicken wire base for added dimension.

This card was inspired by a tag I saw online.

A couple of days ago i saw this card from Crafty Maria's Stamping World on Pinterest.

The honeycomb on hers was done with a die, which I do not own, from Stampin' Up .  I came up with several uses for a honeycomb background in my mind.  When I'm ready to do a card, I don't want to wait 10-12 days on something I need to be ordered and delivered.  So, I spent about 2 1/2 hours playing around in Make The Cut.

My objective was to have a frame that measured 4" x 5 1/4 with a honeycomb design inside.  I managed to get one done after multiple attempts of joining, welding, using the eraser tool, knife tool and a Boolean join (I still have no idea what that even accomplishes!).

When I cut my shape out, the honeycomb openings were much smaller than what I wanted so I sent my file to Okieladybug and asked her if she could figure out how to duplicate it with larger openings.  She spent about 5 minutes and had it all figured out and sent me the file back!

The flowers are from the Petite Petals stamp/punch bundle.  The sentiment is an old Stampin' Up stamp, punched with a scalloped oval punch.

This one is more like the original file I designed.  Okieladybug cleaned up the outside edges on this one too.

I have a couple more cards in my mind using this honeycomb!

The bees are clip art images.  They're pop dotted for dimension. 

I printed the sentiment with my computer and used the Stampin' Up punch shapes from My Design Studio to cut the shadow for their Modern Label punch.

The background was embossed with a Cuttlebug folder.

B Happy Card

The tag is from Tags, Bags, Boxes and More; the bee stamp is from Stampin' Up. I inked the edges and added some pen stitiching to finish the edges.

The background is embossed using a Cuttlebug folder, the flowers, bee and sentiment are from SU stamps and punches. The flower centers are Black Diamond Stickles.

The page from the book came from one that I found at the library in a stack of free books.  The name of the book is "The Dancing Bees An Account of the Life and Senses of the Honey Bee" ---how appropriate! So I made sure part of the title appears at the top of the cut off portion I used.
