Sending Love Card

Designed by Donna Crandall
This card showed up on Card Making USA on Facebook.  It was designed by Donna Crandall as a sympathy card.  I modified her idea to use as an Operation Write Home card.

The envelopes are clip art images, I printed the large sentiment in Hallmark Card Studio, stamped the "Love", and added some inking and pen work. The tiny red heart is a Martha Stewart punch.

The outer edge of the purple paper was shaped with a Memories Direct rotary blade and ruler.

Hello Circle Card

I used the negative "hello" cut, added some pen stitching around the outer edge as well as around the letters.  To me, this looks more like a fall themed card than one you'd use when it's mid-summer.

Down By the Sea

The clouds were cut with my Cameo and MTC.  The jar is a clip art image printed on marbled translucent paper.

I used clip art images for the shells also.

The "sand" is done with two strips of printed paper that are torn and inked.

Cutie Pie Card

The font I used is Motion Picture.  The Pi symbol was traced and cut.

It's hard to read the background paper in the photo.  It has pies on it.

Rock Star Card

A combination of traced clip art, an image from Indie Art cartridge and a couple of stamps was used on this card.  I think it will make a good card for a teen boy.

Watermelon Slice Card

The melon slice is from Cheerful Seasons, imported into Make The Cut and cut on a Cameo.

I've had the sentiment stamp so long that I have no idea what company it's from. But, the combination makes a great summer themed card.

Hello Sunshine Card

The sun image is from Create A Critter cartridge.  The face is a Peachy Keen stamp and the sentiment was printed in Hallmark Card Studio

Metallic Butterflies on a Branch

A quick and easy card using some metallic cardstock for the base as well as the butterflies.  The branches were cut with a die using my Cuttlebug.

This photo shows the metallic elements much better.

Beyond Measure Card -- 30 Minute Card

I've been wondering how I could use the paper that's printed with measuring tapes.  So, I used a play on words!

Glassine Envelope Card

It took a couple of tries but I got the envelope size adjusted where it looks more in proportion to an A2 card.

Duct Tape Butterfly Card

The butterfly is made from metallic duct tape using a Beautiful Wings embosslit from Stampin' Up.

The background was embossed with a Darice folder.

The embossed background was highlighted with a silver metallic Promarker.

This is "real" duct tape.  I asked the air conditioner installer where he got it and he gave me this partial roll.  It's only 2" wide but there is quite a bit left.  I can emboss a lot of images with what's left.

The embosslit has five butterflies on it.  The largest is on the front of the card and I used the tiny ones on the inside.

Kraft Paper Card

Supplies:

Stampin' Up Flower Shop stamps
Stampin' Up Petite Petals stamps

Kraft cardstock:  5 1/2" x 4 /14"  zebra stripe
                           2 3/4" x 4 1/2"  polka dot
2" x 2"  plain (I was able to use the back side of the printed kraft cardstock)

Red cardstock:  2 1/4" x  2 1/4"
                         3" x  4 3/4"
                         1 1/4" x 1"

Background for sentiment  1" x 4 1/4"

Using Lady Bug red Memento ink, I stamped the flowers onto the same paper I used for the sentiment and punched them with the Pansy Punch and Petite Petals punches.  They're pop dotted for dimension.

Flower Shop Card -- 30 Minute Card

The images are from Stampin' Up's Flower Shop set, punched with their Pansy Punch.  Eggplant Envy ink was used.  The sentiment was printed with Purple #7 in Hallmark Card Studio and is a good match to the SU ink.

I punched two holes with a Crop-O-Dile and threaded some satin ribbon through to the back.

This card was inspired by one seen on Pinterest.

Flying Out For Lunch

DH and I were just piddling around the house this morning finishing up our coffee when our neighbor, Ken, called to ask if we'd like to fly somewhere for breakfast.

I believe that Ken was a little concerned that I'd be afraid so his wife, Karen, and DH sat in the rear seats and I sat up front.  He explained a lot of the process and how to read the instrument panel as we took off and landed.  We all had headphones on so I could hear him talking with the tower and it made it quite easy for us to talk to each other too.

My job with Fleming Co. required me to do a lot of flying on a regular basis.  I haven't flown much since leaving Fleming and haven't been in a small plane in a really long time.  The only problem I had was getting into and out of the plane.  It's pretty tight quarters even in a six passenger plane.  Getting out is definitely something I'll have to work on.  Thankfully, the airport wasn't crowded and no one saw me wrestling myself up and out onto the wing!

Today's flight was pretty short; he flew into Wiley Post airport in Oklahoma City where we ate a nice breakfast before heading back home.

DH, Karen and Ken outside the restaurant.  We sat there for a while watching small planes and jets take off and land.

Ken was resting up, checking weather, etc. before starting back home.  Tinker Air Force base hosted an air show today so he anticipated a lot of air traffic in the Oklahoma City area.
Once the plane was refueled, we took off headed toward home.  Ken took a route north of the original path he flew this morning and used his instruments to navigate back to the local airport.  It was fascinating to see the plane on the screen and watch our progress to where he needed to change directions, etc.

What a neat way to spend a Saturday morning!  I'm so glad we were invited to go!

Totally CASED Card

While in JoAnn's the other day, I saw this Butterflies in the Corner embossing folder by Darice and knew it would be a good one for making quick cards.

This card was totally CASED from Lynette Neus' blog My Stamping Addiction.  I saw it on Pinterest, of course.  You can do multiples of this design, change the sentiment and have a good supply of cards on hand for any occasion.

I embossed a 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 piece of white cardstock and then trimmed it to 4 x 5 1/4.  It's very easy to trim around the embossed area, just follow the curves on the design.  Then I layered it onto a piece of pink cardstock that was embossed with a Swiss Dots folder.  The small butterfly was done with a Martha Stewart punch, pop dotted for dimension and has some Liquid Pearl accents.  The sentiment is from Stampin' Up and I added a portion of a swirl cut with a Sizzix Flourish #9 die.

Kensington Branch Die

This is another Memory Box die.  I cut  it once from green card stock and once from a dark red and cut the butterflies off and mounted them onto the green.

Delicate Butterfly Arch Die

Dutch Paper Crafts is where I first saw this die from Memory Box.  They were doing a pre-order on several new dies.  This is the first time I've ordered from them and I was very pleased with their service!  My credit card was not charged until the item shipped and it took less time than I'd anticipated for the dies to arrive.
Mine arrived today and I had to play!

A Cuttlebug is the embossing/die cutter machine that I used.  This die is extremely intricate and, to be honest, I had a hard time getting it to cut cleanly.  My first attempt was using Stampin' Up solid cardstock.  It's too thick to cut cleanly with this die.  I then searched and found some lighter weight cardstock, added an extra shim of cardstock and it worked much better.

No where online did I find any complaints about Memory Box dies so I'm sure my difficulties are from my using a Cuttlebug and cardstock that was just too thick.

It seems that the trend in paper crafting is toward using dies rather than punches.  I've stayed away from dies because they're inconvenient for me to use.  My machine is across the room to use a die, my punches are within reach and I can cut multiples of images using my Cameo.  I admit that I'm basically lazy and like to do things quickly!

The small butterflies were done with a Martha Stewart punch.

I like the two different sizes of butterflies on this one.  Black and white cards are some of my favorites.

Birdbath Chick Card

Another of the digital stamps I got at From The Heart Stamps.  This one is called Birdbath Chick.

Birdbrain Birthday Card

The cute chicken is a "birdbrain" digital on From The Heart Stamps.  I discovered that site today and ordered several sets of cute digital images to color.

This is the digital set I ordered:

Saturday Card Challenge

Once again Shirley posted a card challenge on the Old Cricut Community page.  We were to use the margarita image and sentiment.

The paper printed with the limes seemed like a logical background to use.

Since the card is so simple I decided to embellish the inside also.

It's Your Day Card

This card was done for a challenge on the Old Cricut Community page.  Shirley (Okieladybug) Thompson has been posting a sketch for the challenge and providing the cut file for the elements.

I used the retired motorcycle stamp from Stampin' Up and added the gear cut outs to the front.  The papers are from a Halloween pack from Stampin' Up.

Stamping Motion Technique

My friend, and Stampin' Up demonstrator, Robin Goens, offered me this retired motorcycle stamp.  Since I find it so difficult to come up with good ideas for masculine cards, I told her I definitely wanted the stamp!

A medium priority box was delivered today from Robin.  She'd stuffed it with designer paper from Stampin' Up for me to use for Operation Write Home cards!

We've been babysitting our grandson for a couple of days so when he went down for his nap, I had to get into the papers and play with the stamp.  I did a little research online and ran across a Stampin' Up blog that explained the stamping motion technique to make the image look as if it's moving.

You stamp the image the first time with the stamp fully inked, then without re-inking, you just repeat stamping the image.  Each time you stamp, the image becomes lighter and it does give the impression of motion.

#2 Card for Okie's Saturday Card Challenge

The chicks are from the Silhouette store, shadowed and cut with Make The Cut.  The flowers are Bitty Punch shapes.

Okie's Saturday Card Challenge

Challenges are just that for me!  A challenge.  This morning, my friend Shirley posted on Facebook that she and Carmen, another friend, were doing a card challenge.  Shirley designed and shared the cutting file for the chicken wire.  The challenge was to do a "chicken card" and post it into an album on Facebook.

I modified Shirley's file for the chicken wire using Make The Cut software and cut it on my Cameo.

The chicken as well as the sentiment are clip art images found online.  I printed the inside of the card first, then measured and determined how large the square should be for the image to show through and hand cut the opening for the window.

This is the inside of the card.

Cuppa Love Card

I used a clip art image and several punches to assemble this simple card.

30 Minute Card

.

Just a printed sentiment and a clip art image.

Striped Scallop Card

30 Minute Card

Stampin Up's Bird Builder punch was used to make the birds.  The body was embossed with a Brocade folder.

30 Minute Card

It's been a while since I've posted a 30 Minute Card.  In my quest to use up some of the single sheets of cardstock in my stash, I made a few of these today.

Thankful For You Card

Elegant Butterfly punch was used for the larger one.  The smaller two were made with an Embosslits Beautiful Wings die.

Peachy Card

The corners were cut from a border strip done with a Martha Stewart punch.  I added some white gel pen dots for an accent.  The stamped image was colored with Promarkers.

A Morning Without Coffee

Another "pin-spired" card.  The sentiment was printed in Hallmark card making software.  The scalloped circle is from Elegant Edges cartridge.

Ampersand Card

In Make the Cut it's super simple to make a shadow layer for an image.  I used three different shades of turquoise cardstock for the base, shadow and top layer of the ampersand.

This card gave me a good opportunity to use up some of the Magic Mesh I've had on hand for a long, long time.

Embossed Oval Card

Have you noticed the new watermark on my photos?  Shirley, aka Okieladybug, Thompson designed it for me.  I've been using one she did for me several years ago and asked if she'd make one that was a little more opaque.  She had just designed one for another friend and it was just what I needed for my photos.  Of course, she had to give me a hard time about making it!

It's nice to have the option of using a white watermark on solid color backgrounds.

I embossed the oval with a Sizzix folder and punched the center with a Stampin' Up punch.  The upper half was done with a Swiss Dots embossing folder.

The Island Indigo ribbon and cardstock were given to me by Robin Goens, my Stampin' Up demonstrator.  She sends me items she has on hand for my Operation Write Home cards and I greatly appreciate the items she sends!

I punched a mask out of notebook paper and stamped the bird image inside the card using Bermuda Bay ink.

Once Again I've Been "Pin"-Spired!

Pinterest is such a great resource for card ideas.  I check it often and cards that appeal to me get saved in my private boards.  When I need inspiration, or should I say "Pin"-spiration, I scroll through my boards until something catches my eye.

On today's Pinterest inspired card, I used four different stamps, combining three of them to make the bottom border.

The oval was embossed with a Sizzix folder from Stampin' Up.  The sentiment is from one of their stamp sets.

The ribbon is some I've had on hand for a really long time.  The butterflies are a Martha Stewart punch.

The card front was cut 5 1/4" x 4" and mounted on the base with foam squares for dimension.
