May, 1970 was my first Mother's Day.
My son was six months old, so his daddy took him outside and bent down while holding him so that he could grasp a Jonquil that had bloomed along our back fence.
I imagine that Daddy had to help him a little to get it picked but it was in my son's hand when they came back inside to present it to me.
That was my very first Mother's Day gift and I still have it. It's pressed between the pages of my son's baby book.
Oh my that is truly lovely! Better than every store bought gift anytime. That is what I keep trying to explain to my kids when they ask me what I want for all the holidays. It is the small personal gestures that you remember.
