These are some of the Christmas cards I've completed to be sent to Cards for Soldiers. The first one is SU paper. I saw a card made like this at stamp club last week and thought it would be a nice one to add some holiday stamps onto the large surface area. I just folded back the corner of the double sided cardstock, punched two holes with my Crop-o-dile and tied a simple knot of gross grain ribbon. I added some dots with a white Signo pen. The sentiment stamp is from Hero Arts.
I love this Santa face. It's from a clip art CD called Holiday Treasures by Dan and Darcie Heater. I just print them out onto cardstock and then color them with my SU and Bic markers.
The "HO. HO, HO" is from the Verry Merry Tags cartridge. I just snipped off the eyelet where you'd insert a cord to use as a tag. The green and white striped paper is from a Big Lots find. I bought two packages of it so I still have a ton to use up. The white dots around the edges were done with a white Signo pen.
Here's a trick I use when I'm cutting out clip art images. After I print them on my cardstock, I use a black Sharpie marker to trace around the outline, making it a wider line. Then when you get ready to cut it out, you don't have to worry about having little tiny white pieces showing around the outer edge.
Again, more of the Big Lots paper. I computer printed the sentiment, punched a hole in each end to thread the ribbon through and then just tucked it behind the striped paper, doodling was done with Signo pen.
This is one of my favorites to send to CFS. I just used a wavy blade in my paper trimmer to cut the blue stars and red stripes. Computer printed the sentiment in Hallmark Card Maker software. Inside it says "...but my heart is still at home.. Thinking of You at Christmas"
The base for this one is a Martha Stewart thank you card that I found at a super clearance price. I loved the punched and scalloped edge and had to get them. I just cut a red strip and a patterned strip of paper and taped it with my ATG gun on top of the words "thank you". The little tree came from Doodlecharms cartridge. I added some red stickles on it for the trim.
Another simple card with my favorite Santa face applied with some of Okie's homemade pop dots.
The red polka dot paper came in the form of a miniature file folder from the Dollar Tree. I used the Swiss Dots CB folder on some green paper and cut a narrow strip to use as a ribbon.
You can't get much simpler than this one. I nearly always use white cardstock for my card base and adhere a 1/4 sheet of colored paper onto the card front. Since I make hundreds of cards each month to donate that helps my paper money go a little further.
The tree is made from three welded trianges using George. I computer printed the sentiment and cut it out with some shaped scissors, added some Signo pen dots and some red dots around the sentiment. There are some red stickle dots on the tree.
Not much to say about this one, it's pretty straightforward. The tag came from Very Merry Tags. I cut a green base for it and colored the letters in with a Gelly Roll clear star pen to add some sparkle. There are silver stickles dots around the edge of the tag.
If you enjoy making cards, consider going to the Cards for Soldiers forum on the Cricut message boards and signing up to send some to them for their current challenge. For each challenge I commit to make 250 cards and once I get rolling I wind up with way more than that to send.
Got any comments about the cards? Just leave one below. Thanks for looking!
I will post more Christmas cards as I come up with some new ones.
