Spring Floral Card

I was inspired by an image I saw online today to make this card.

The flowers are clip art images from Hallmark card software, printed on patterned paper.  Once they were printed, they looked too flat.  I decided to add a shadow with a Promarker.

The image on the left is how it looks printed onto the paper.  The center image shows how I outlined the shape using n Ice Grey 5 Promarker.  The image on the right is the outline softened by using a blender pen over the grey outline.

Another thing I did today was to use the negative portion of the cut out letters as a stencil to aid in placing the letters where I needed them onto the front of the card.

The letters were cut in Make The Cut software using Subway font. The software properly spaces the letters so by laying the stencil onto the card front I was able to make pencil marks where the letters needed to be adhered.

Dreams Card

A Stampin' Up punch was used for the flower.  The "button" in the center was punched from a sheet of Jillibean Soup paper.  I printed the sentiment, did some pen stitching, inking and added some twine.

It was inspired by a card seen in a card making magazine.

Vintage Lady Card

This card is not black and white as it appears in the photo.  The image and sentiment are printed on a light taupe colored paper to blend with the newsprint background.

I like the vintage look but this card seems to be lacking something to me.  Not sure what I can add to it other than some black pearl pen dots, but it needs something!

Violin Card

It's a good thing I have the Hallmark card software.  I thought I had a music instrument stamp but as I searched through my stamp index, the only thing I found was an antique Victrola.  Off to search online for a clip art image to use!

Once I decided on the violin image, I imported it into the software, added the square border, words and music notes around the image.

Then I printed the sentiment and mounted them both on black cardstock.

The background is also a clip art image that I printed.

The shiny black dots were made with a Pearl Pen

DAD Card

Inspired by a card seen on Pinterest, I used Make the Cut software and Subway font to cut the letters.  The automatic shadow feature in MTC is one of my favorite features.

The letter "a" is double pop dotted to stand up above the "d"s.

30 Minute Card

Neobulletin bold is the font I used to cut the letters.

Ole! Card

Hmm...guess this would make a good Cinco De Mayo card if you need one.  I was looking through some really old issues of card making magazines and saw one that inspired me to make this.

The sombrero and cactus are clip art that I printed and cut out ***I really, really, need to spend some time and learn how to do print and cut with my Silhouette Cameo****.  I pop dotted the sombrero to add a little dimension. The zig zag is a free file from the Make the Cut gallery and the tag was printed in Hallmark card software and punched with a Stampin' Up punch.

Green Butterfly Card

The background was printed in Hallmark card software.  I added a clip art butterfly and then highlighted the background with inks.

Cheesy Chicken, Bacon & Tater Tot Crock Pot Bake

This recipe kept popping up on Facebook so I gave it a try tonight.  Even Fred said it was good!

Cheesy Chicken, Bacon & Tater Tot Crock Pot Bake

1 (32 ounce) bag tater tots
1 (3 ounce) jar bacon bits
 5 boneless skinless chicken breasts
1 1/2 cups grated colby cheese
1 1/2 cups grated monterey jack pepper cheese
3/4 cup milk
salt and pepper

Directions:
Grease the bottom of the crock pot.
Layer 1/2 the tater tots on the bottom of the pot.
Sprinkle with 1/4 of the jar of bacon bits.
Combine the two cheeses, and sprinkle 1/3 of it over the bacon and tots.
Top cheese with the chicken breasts.
Sprinkle chicken with salt and pepper to taste.
Top chicken with another 1/3 of cheese.
Sprinkle with another 1/4 of the jar of bacon bits.
Add remainder of the tater tots.
Top with final 1/3 of the cheese.
  Pour milk over the top.
Set crock pot to high and cook 3-4 hours.

My modifications since there are just the two of us:  used just colby cheese, only 2 chicken breasts, used about 3/4 of the package of tater tots, reduced the milk to 1/2 cup, added some diced onions and I did NOT use bacon bits from a jar.  They have a weird taste to me, so I used about 6 strips of crisp bacon that I diced up finely.

Next time I prepare it, I'll lower the temperature on my crockpot and it will probably still be done in less than 4 hours.

Monkey and Giraffe Cards

The monkey is a Dustin Pike image colored with Promarkers.  I printed and cut out some clip art leaves to tuck behind the circle.

The star brad is shiny gold colored, guess it picked up a reflection in the photo.

The giraffe is free clip art found online.

Toon Cars Birthday Cards

These cute cartoon cars were found online.  I printed them in Hallmark software and cut them out by hand.

Cupckake Birthday Card

The stamp set is Create a Cupcake from Stampin' Up.

Hello 2 U Card

Inspired by a card seen in an older Stampin' Up catalog.  I printed the sentiment and used two EK Success punches for the border and flower.

Faith in Nature Stamp Card

I liked the Faith in Nature stamp set as soon as I saw it in the Stampin' Up catalog.  It's a hostess set and I was fortunate enough to find a seller online that was willing to part with hers so I bought it.

The pear was colored with Promarkers and I added some dots with a Pearl Pen.  This card was seen in the Stampin' Up catalog.

30 Minute Card

A simple stamp, some punches, brads and an embossing folder is all you need to make this quick card.

Stacked Butterflies Card

There's a stack of pastel butterflies underneath the white one.  This card was inspired by one seen online.

30 Minute Card

Carol Longacre posted a card like this on her blog Our Little Inspirations as part of a challenge to use a card sketch.

It's super fast to assemble and you could use any sentiment too.

Pink Envelope Card

This is my version of a card seen on Splitcoast Stampers by Cathy Ross.  I used a Cuttlebug folder for the insert for the envelope.  The envelope is from the Silhouette store.  It was re-sized and cut to fit onto an A2 card.  The papers are by Tim Holtz.

Grey Butterfly Card

I enlarged and printed a clip art butterfly using black ink only.  The sentiment stamp is from Stampin' Up.

The butterfly is matted onto black cardstock and then pop dotted off the card base.

Concho Card

These were done in February and I failed to post them on here.

I used clip art images for the concho and the steer head.
The background paper is printed to look like barn wood.  The horseshoe paper is from a Hobby Lobby stack.

I pop dotted the concho and added some strands of cotton yarn.

Too Sweet

We all buy supplies that get set aside and never used.  At the last swarm in Harrah, there was a table set aside for us to bring those supplies and set them out for anyone who would use them.  I was fortunate enough to get a large set of sentiment stamps.  The one I used on this card is from that set of sixteen.

I took quite a bit of stuff for the swap table myself.  I'm glad someone will use the papers, embellishments and stamps that I no longer wanted.

The flowers were sent to me from another crafter in Hawaii.  She'd accumulated more than she wanted to use and rather than have them take up space in her craft room she shared them with me.

The butterfly is from the Art Philosophy cartridge.  I cut it, and the circle mat on my Cameo with Make The Cut software.

Two Hearts Cherries Card

This card is just so cute!  It's by Sharon Burkert and on her blog As The Ink Dries.  I tweaked her design just a little by adding some inking and pen stitching. I colored the stamped image with a Promarker too.  It's a great card for Operation Write Home!

Monarch Birthday Card

Super easy card using a clip art butterfly and a Stampin' Up sentiment stamp.

Hugs and Kisses Card

Inspired by a card seen on Pinterest.

I used clip art images of Hershey's kisses and shaded them with Promarkers.  The silver metallic border was done with a Stampin' Up punch. In the photo it looks like it's just grey paper.

The sentiment stamp is also from Stampin' Up.

Family Card - 30 Minute Card

I seldom do cards with colored bases but I'm drowning in cardstock and decided I better use some of it up before it takes over the entire room!

Mother's Day Card

Thought I better get started doing some Mother's Day cards for Operation Write Home.

The inside sentiment is "The only thing better than having you for my mother, is my children having you for their grandmother."

I used Magellan Script font for the lettering.

Postage Stamp Card

I combined a Stampendous stamp with some clip art images for this card.  It looked too somber so I added a pop of color with the magenta sheer ribbon.

Embossed Leaves Card

A Cuttlebug folder was used to emboss the leaves; my Scor-Pal for the lines and a We R Memory Keeper punch for the border.  I rounded the corners just to make it a little more interesting.

It was inspired by a card seen on Pinterest.

Butterfly Circle Card

I was inspired by a card on Pinterest from Two Rosie Cheeks to make this card.

The flower and leaf stamps are from Stampin' Up.  I embossed the background with a Cricut Cuttlebug folder.  The center circle is double pop dotted for dimension.

Definitely NOT a 30 Minute Card

At 4:00 this afternoon I began working on the elements for this card.  Taking out about an hour for the time I spent fixing dinner, it took me 4.5 hours to complete four of these!

I'm a slow learner!  I had the butterfly imported and resized in Make The Cut twice, without remembering to save the file, when the size of the file caused my Windows to shut down as it was being transferred the Cameo to cut!  After the second crash, I decided to step away and cook dinner.

I've had my Windows shut down before while using Make The Cut.  It happened when I tried to send an entire 12 x 12 mat full of intricate designs to the Cameo to cut.  Today I had too many of the filigree butterflies.  You'd think after the first time, I'd have saved the file!

The butterfly is from the CTMH Art Philosophy cartridge.  I used an 1.5 inch scalloped square and 1 inch square punch to do the photo corners.  The butterfly sits on a paper doily.  (I intended to cut my own doily, but after the two shut downs, I just wanted to get these finished!)

30 Minute Card

I stamped a simple flower image on the card base then cut another one out by hand and pop dotted it onto the stamped image.  Add any sentiment you choose and you have a cute 30 Minutes Card.

Punched Flower Card

I embossed the white background, then punched out flower shapes and backed the openings with brightly colored cardstock.  The embossed background was then pop dotted off the card base for dimension.

Boho Blossoms Card

The flowers were done with the Boho Blossoms stamp and punch from Stampin' Up.  I printed the sentiment on my computer.
